Is it easy to discover the city of Bangkok without a tour guide>?

We intend to explore Bangkok on our own we are on a budget trip. Is it easy to do without the help of a professional tour guide. We do not speak Thai, but can speak English. Taxi drivers may simply ferry to where you want to tell the Grand Palace Emerald Palace or if you talk tot hem in English. So many of them understand the language.

It is easy to explore places like the Great Hall itself, the Emerald Buddha Temple is located in the Grand Palace and is included in the price of admission to the palace. It is probably a good idea to keep a guide that describes the sites where women, even if they are given a brochure with a map and a brief description of the places where you buy your ticket too includes admission and tour Vimanmek Mansion a few kilometers by taxi. I think that instead of taking a taxi to the palace, take the Chao Phraya Express boat field, is located end of the line Saphan Taksin Skytrain, if you take the tourist boat, instead of water, including a guided walk through the cabin sites along the river, in English and can take next to Wat Po, where the Temple of the Reclining Buddha and is located just steps from the Grand Palace therefore also the Temple of Dawn or Wat Arun is located just across the river from there, and you can take a ferry to cross the river dock. The boat tour costs only 120 baht for a pass all the day or a little less to go to the palace. Just be careful around the palace all the drivers who will try to tell you the palace is closed and offer a personal tour elsewhere, are thieves and their "tour" will end inevitably, a store of precious or less honest tailor, ignore them, the palace is open day. Otherwise, you have received good advice taxis in their responses, another place, I think, is worth visiting the house of Jim Thompson, which is located near the National Stadium Skytrain stop, and only costs 100 baht for a guided tour in English. Have fun. http://www.chaophrayaboat.co.th/touristboat_chaophrayariver_e.htm

 101 Places Not to Visit

101 Places Not to Visit

$16.95

101 Places Not to Visit has it all: dull attractions, pointless festivals, sites famous for their biohazards or radioactivity, tips on how to avoid marriage to locals desperate to escape, and more. Brimming with vitriol and useful information, this eye-opening guide will have you canceling your next vacation. Stopping at every continent, this cautionary companion offers a look at the places that tourist organizations would rather you didn’t know about. Refreshingly abusive, it makes no effort whatsoever to be fair or even-handed. Each entry begins with a unique point system that awards stars for Boredom Factor and Likelihood of Fatal Visit. This is followed by a history of the destination, a look at its culture or lack of it, non-attractions, and any culinary specialties you might be expected to endure. Throughout, color photos and special features draw attention to particularly ghastly places, people, and events. Don’t leave home without it…or, perhaps, don’t leave home at all.
